Public views and payable views are two different numbers

The number under a post and the number a campaign pays on are not the same, and most clipping reports blend them. What each one counts, where the gap comes from, and how RUCKUS reports both.

Quick answer. Public views are what the platform shows under a post. Payable views are the ones a campaign counts after its minimum, its per-video cap, moderation and fraud checks. RUCKUS reports both, in separate columns, and never adds them.

Where the gap comes from

StepWhat it removes
The minimumViews on clips that never cleared the threshold, 2,000 by RUCKUS's default, pay nothing at all
The per-video capViews above the cap on a single clip are public but not payable
ModerationViews on a denied or voided clip
Fraud screeningViews the platform suspects and voids, which its terms allow it to do on suspicion
The windowViews after the platform's 7-day earning window plus its 3-day hold

A campaign can show 3 million public views and pay on 900,000. Both numbers are true. Only one of them is money.

Why it matters to a buyer

A report that quotes public views tells you how far the clips travelled. A report that quotes payable views tells you what your budget bought. A report that adds them tells you nothing, and it is the reason the best-known clipping case study fails its own arithmetic.

How RUCKUS reports it

Per clip: public views at day 1, 3, 7 and 14 in one column, payable views in another, from the platform's API or the rail's exports. Per campaign: cost per 1,000 payable views, which is the number to compare against any other channel you buy.

Note. The verification report also records whether each clip is still live at day 14 and day 30, because a clip deleted after payment still counted, and a buyer should know.

FAQ

Which number should I use to compare RUCKUS with another operator?

Cost per 1,000 payable views, all in, with the operator's fee included. The calculator on the pricing page produces it for any budget and rate.

Do clippers see both numbers?

Yes. The platform shows public views on the post and tracked views in the dashboard, and RUCKUS's reasons library says which threshold a denied clip missed.

Can payable views be higher than public views?

No. Payable is always a subset of public.
